More than 500 kids who attend Boys & Girls Club and KIDSTOP sites will be participating in the third annual 1K on Friday, April 21. The event is sponsored by North Risk Partners - Apollo Division along with a donation from The Todd Steinke Memorial Fund. Sponsors are planning a celebration for all kids who participate.

The BLEND 1K is the perfect opportunity for children 12 and under to get out and exercise their rights to a healthy and happy future! Entrants limited to the first 1,000 kids. Join in the fun at the BLEND Kids Health and Fitness Expo, too. 


2018 BLEND 1K Route


Packet Pickup – Located in the Halenbeck Hall Fieldhouse at St. Cloud State University from 11 a.m. to  6 p.m. Parking is available south of the building in K-lot and Q-lot, with on street parking also available in the residential neighborhoods around Halenbeck Hall. Packet pickup will be very busy from 3-6 p.m. as we prepare for our 1K and 5K races so please plan accordingly. If you are picking up someone else’s packet, you will need to present your ID for recording purposes.

Health and Fitness Expo – Halenbeck Hall Fieldhouse is the home of the Health and Fitness Expo, and this is where you’ll find everything! The expo runs from noon to 8 p.m. on Friday. Local, regional and national vendors will be selling, sampling and showing off the latest products from the world of running and fitness. You’ll find great deals on everything from running shoes to your last minute nutrition needs. Learn about exciting new products directly from the source at the SCHEELS Exhibit located at the Health and Fitness Expo!

BLEND Kids Health and Fitness Expo – Sponsored by American Door Works. The expo runs from 2-8 p.m. on Friday. From the young to the young at heart, the BLEND Kids Health and Fitness Expo offers fun for the entire family. The expo will be packed with interactive and engaging activities for all ages. Kids will learn how to make physical activity and healthy eating fun parts of everyday life.

Parking – Parking is available south of the building in K-lot and Q-lot, with on street parking also available in the residential neighborhoods around Halenbeck Hall. Additional information and maps can be found here.

Start & Finish Line – The BLEND 1K start line adjacent to Husky Stadium. The run will take runners around Husky Stadium, along the Mississippi River and finish near where the race began.

Start Time – The Boys & Girls Club/KIDSTOP 1K, sponsored by North Risk Partners – Apollo Division, will begin around 4:30 p.m. Parents are encouraged to come and watch.

The BLEND 1K race, sponsored by Capital One, will begin in the Husky Stadium at 6 p.m. sharp with six heats, each 15-20 seconds apart.

Age Breakdown – Locate your age group and mascot in Husky Stadium.

  • Heat #1: Ages: 9-12 – Blizzard – St. Cloud State Husky
  • Heat #2: Age: 8 – Rox Chisel
  • Heat #3: Age 7 – Cooper/Chicken
  • Heat #4: Age 6 – MooBell
  • Heat #5: Age 5 – BLEND
  • Heat #6: Ages 4 and under

Things To Remember – Parents please stay outside the staging and finish line area. Parents are allowed to run with young children, but space is limited. No strollers allowed on the 1K course. If your child misplaces you, we have a lost area on the south end of the field.

Restrooms – We have restrooms available throughout Halenbeck Hall Fieldhouse. Watch for signs. Ushers will be available to answer any questions you may have. These ushers will be wearing yellow volunteer shirts.
