The SCHEELS Half Marathon tours the best that St. Cloud, Minn., has to offer.
The course starts at St. Cloud State University and travels along a fast, flat and scenic USATF-certified course. You'll pass through tree-lined neighborhoods, go along the Beaver Island Trail and finish at Husky Stadium overlooking the Mississippi River.
New for 2018! Introducing the Bernick’s Cheer Zone!
Each year we aim to make the Earth Day Run bigger, bolder and downright more festive! The Bernick’s Cheer Zone is the next addition to our weekend celebration.
We know that the last 3-4 miles of the SCHEELS Half Marathon can be rough, so our friends at Bernick’s are taking over the last leg of the race to make it a HUGE party for runners. This stretch will include around 10 different cheer sites, hosted by different non-profit groups, each competing to make their site the BEST and to win a grand prize of founds for their organizations.

Invite your friends and family to join you at the Stearns Bank Post-Race Party located near the finish line! Celebrate your accomplishment as well as cheer on other participants as they cross the finish line. The event features food, beer, live music and activities for all ages, including inflatables for the kids!
All participants and Post-Race Party attendees must bring a photo ID for alcoholic beverage service. For your convenience, we will have an ID/key drop area nearby so you can safely store items onsite.
Please note! The MapMyRun.com route does not show the true and exact distance of the SCHEELS Half Marathon. The SCHEELS Half Marathon is a USATF Sanctioned and Certified course, meaning it is a true 13.1 half marathon.
Packet Pickup – Located in the Halenbeck Hall Fieldhouse at St. Cloud State University from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Parking is available south of the building in K-lot and Q-lot, with on street parking also available in the residential neighborhoods around Halenbeck Hall. Packet pickup will be very busy from 3 to 6:30 p.m. as we prepare for our 1K and 5K races on Friday so please plan accordingly. If you are picking up someone else’s packet, you will need to present your ID for recording purposes. If you are unable to pick up your packet, please refer to “proxy pickup” below.
Proxy Pickup – The St. Cloud Tech Cross Country Team will provide proxy pickup at Halenbeck Hall Fieldhouse on Saturday morning starting at 6 a.m. Cost is $5. All proceeds benefit their team. You do not need to register for proxy pickup. The team will pick up all remaining packets on Friday night and have them available to runners on Saturday morning.
SCHEELS Half Marathon Relay – The first runner of the Half Marathon Relay will start at 8:30 a.m. on University Avenue with the entire Half Marathon field. The second runner will be stationed just south of the 6-mile mark on the Beaver Island Trail by the boat launch near K-Lot. The 2nd runner of the relay team should head to Halenbeck Hall Fieldhouse after the race has started. We will meet at the south end of the Fieldhouse at 8:45 a.m. and will start walking runners down to the relay exchange zone when we have groups that are ready. The relay exchange zone is also shown on the Half Marathon info map, located between K and Q lots.
Health and Fitness Expo – Halenbeck Hall Fieldhouse is the home of the Health and Fitness Expo, and this is where you’ll find everything! The expo runs from noon to 8 p.m. Friday. Local, regional and national vendors will be selling, sampling and showing off the latest products from the world of running and fitness. You’ll find great deals on everything from running shoes to your last minute nutrition needs. Learn about exciting new products directly from the source at the SCHEELS Exhibit located at the Health and Fitness Expo!
BLEND Kids Health and Fitness Expo – The kid’s expo runs from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday. From the young to the young at heart, the BLEND Kids Health and Fitness Expo offers fun for the entire family. The expo will be packed with interactive and engaging activities for all ages. Kids will learn how to make physical activity and healthy eating fun parts of everyday life.
Parking – Parking is available south of the building in K-lot and Q-lot, with on street parking also available in the residential neighborhoods around Halenbeck Hall. Additional information and maps can be found here.
Bag Drop – (Saturday Only) – The St. Cloud Tech High School Track and Cross Country Team will provide a free bag drop on Saturday morning. Please indicate if you are a relay team member. For those running the first relay leg, we will bring their items out to the relay point along with bottles of water for them to have as they finish the first part of the course.
Shoe Donation – Let your old shoes be repurposed for a better cause! At Friday's Health & Fitness Expo, the ROCORI Environmentalist Club/YES (Youth Energy Summit) Team will be collecting shoes for donations to the World Wear Project (PDF).
Start Line/Finish Line – You will find the start line of the Half Marathon and Half Marathon Relay on University Drive. The street will be blocked off for the start of the race. All races run along the beautiful Mississippi River and finish on the field in Husky Stadium. View detailed race route information and course maps.
Awards – Find the awards table in Halenbeck Hall Field House on Saturday. We will begin to distribute the awards at 10:30 a.m.
Restrooms – You will find restrooms throughout Halenbeck Hall. Watch for signage.
Locker Rooms Available – All participants have access to locker rooms in Halenbeck Hall for changing and showering post-race. Watch for signage. Please keep an eye on your belongings as locks will not be provided.
Course Closing Time – Traffic control, health and safety volunteers and race officials will vacate the course three hours after the start (11:30 a.m.). Anyone who continues to run on the course after 11:30 a.m. will be doing so at his/her own risk.
