Important Message From the Race Director

Greetings Earth Day Runners!

As you know, COVID-19 is having an extreme impact on events around the world and is lasting longer than we had hoped. In the past few months, CentraCare has been closely monitoring COVID-19 within our community and carefully considering the best path forward.

With a focus on community health and new guidelines set forth by the Minnesota Department of Health, it is with a sad heart that we are canceling the CentraCare Earth Day Run, which was scheduled for Sept. 4-5, 2020.

Many other large events in the U.S. have already begun to cancel their fall races and their cancellation policies have varied. To honor our athletes and their commitment to this event, we are voiding our “No Refund Policy,” meaning we will refund your race fee.

As a race director, it has been extremely hard to watch some of my favorite events canceled for the season, but I am hopeful for the future. A huge thank you to all of our sponsors and to CentraCare for offering the full refunds.

To my runners, I truly hope you are staying safe and will continue to have opportunities to train and reach your goals. I look forward to the day when I can see your smiling faces again at the finish line.

Questions & Answers

With the race being canceled, what does this mean for me?
To show our commitment to our runners, CentraCare is taking the unique step of refunding your race fee. No further action is needed on your part.

When will I receive my refund and how?
We hope to begin the refund process shortly, completing it within the next 6-8 weeks. You should receive your refund on the credit card you used to purchase your race registration. We plan to provide updates on our progress. Please be patient as we work through various registration scenarios.

What if my registration included extra items, such as hoodies and hats? Will I receive those items, or will I be refunded?
You will receive a full refund for these items.

Is it possible for me to get my race swag?
Sorry, we will not be providing any race swag for 2020.

Can I defer my race fees to the 2021 event?
As we assess and consider the health and safety of our community, we will continue to share information as it is available. Therefore, until the future of this pandemic is clear, we will not accept registrations for our next event.

What if I already had a deferment in place for 2021?
You will receive a full refund instead.

What if I had a deferment option in place but paid for the 2020 swag?
You will receive a full refund for both registration and for the swag. You will not receive any swag items.

What if I already had a refund in process?
You do not need to do anything. You will receive your refund within the next 6-8 weeks. You will not receive any swag items. If you received a partial refund, we will refund you the remaining amount.

I ran the virtual run this past May. When will I get my shirt and medal?
If you registered separately for the virtual run only, and did not plan to be part of the upcoming September event, you will receive an email shortly with more information.

Rather than getting a refund on my registration, can I donate it to Feeling Good MN?
Funds raised for the Earth Day Run were to go to Feeling Good MN, which supports healthy eating, physical activity and tobacco prevention in Central Minnesota. If interested in donating your registration fee to Feeling Good MN, email us your name by Sunday, July 26. Please know that 100% of your donation is tax-deductible, and you will receive a receipt for your donation.
