About the CentraCare Earth Day Run

The Earth Day Run has been one of Minnesota’s favorite running events since 1999.  After being hosted on the campus of St. Cloud State for 19 years, the event was moved to beautiful downtown St. Cloud in 2019.  After a couple years off due to the pandemic the event was brought back with help from a partnership with Active Central MN which is a nonprofit organization with a mission to support and sustain local events in Central MN that benefit the health, fitness, and overall wellness of all those who call Central MN their home.  Active Central offers logistical, financial, and event management support to key local events, so that they can continue to be offered affordably year after year.  Active Central MN currently helps manage the Centracare Earth Day Run, Apple Duathlon, Buffalo Triathlon, Graniteman Clearwater, and Graniteman Big Lake and hopes to expand the number and scope of events it supports.  In addition to a whole host of great community partners, CentraCare continues to be committed to taking a lead role in bringing wellness activities like the Earth Day Run to Central Minnesota. Carrying forward a strong tradition of community health, CentraCare strives to make the healthy choice, the easy choice for people everywhere, everyday.

Here are a few other easy ways to eat better, move more and live joyfully.

Go green at Earth Day
We are getting better at making our event greener. After all, it’s about Earth Day! Our GO GREEN initiatives are presented by Phillips Mechanical. We also work directly with Tri-County Organics and Coborn’s recycling to make sure our bottles, cans and plastics are properly and safely recycled. Our Gatorade cups at water stops will go right into composting, so not only will they keep you hydrated, but they also will help provide nutrient rich soil for gardens!

Recycle Your Old Shoes
The ROCORI Environmentalist Club is collecting gently used shoes to be refurbished or recycled as part of the World Wear Project (PDF). This effort provides wearable, affordable shoes to people in need while diverting millions of pounds of refuse from landfills each year. Just bring your wearable used shoes (no winter boots or flip flops, please) to the SCHEELS Health and Fitness Expo on Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16 and look for the collection bin. Thanks for your part in this effort!
